Going Onsite? How to Store Your Things in Hyderabad

The email has arrived. You’re going onsite for 6 months!

But what about everything in your flat?

Many people pay rent for an empty flat, or cram everything they can into a spare room of a friend and get on with it. Neither is ideal.

Let’s simplify it.

Categorise

Before thinking about storage, separate your possessions into 3 categories.

Keep – Laptop, documents you’ll need whilst abroad, daily use items.

Discard – Items you haven’t used in a year. Sell, donate or recycle.

Store – Everything you want to come back with.

This category often ends up being larger than you expect. Books, winter clothing, bedding, domestic items, desktop PC, maybe a guitar.

Storage

As Bylox isn’t a room rental service, you will only store your items. These will be packed into a bag, box, wallet or single item. (Don’t know how we work in Hyderabad? Read our blog here about storage in Hyderabad).

We pack into 4 different storage options.

Bag – Clothing and soft items. We will deliver a storage bag to your door so you can store clothing, bedding, curtains, footwear and seasonal clothing. Do not store electronics or fragile items in a bag.

Box – Books and domestic items. This is a tough box for storing books, documents, domestic items, sentimental items and electronics such as laptops and hard drives.

Archive – Important documents. All your documents and files will be packed into a secure wallet. Refer to our blog here on how to pack documents for long-term storage.

Custom – Odd-sized items. This will be used for anything that won’t fit into our bag, box or archive. This could be your desktop PC tower, guitar or other equipment. We will assess this with our team when we come to collect and price it on the day.

What we cannot store

Certain items we would recommend you store elsewhere. These cannot be stored under any storage plan.

Cash, gold or jewellery

Original property documents or title e.g. sale deed, share certificate. We can store a certified copy.

Irreplaceable original with no copies.

Anything dangerous, flammable, perishable or living.

Illegal items or weapons.

Large items such as furniture, bikes or vehicles.

If you have rented a furnished flat then you won’t be affected by this. All you will be storing is your own items. View our full list of what can be stored.

Collection

Book online. Select what you’d like to store and a collection date. Book a few days in advance and you’ll receive free delivery. Same-day or next-day collections will incur a fee.

We’ll contact you. Our team will confirm your details, collection date and what you’re storing. We’ll send you a link via WhatsApp to pay for your booking.

Collection. On the day of your collection, you’ll be visited by a verified Bylox agent. You’ll receive confirmation of your collection via an OTP. The agent will also have a body camera.

Packed & sealed. Everything will be packed, sealed and labelled with a QR code.

Stored in Hyderabad. All your items will be stored in our own secure facility with CCTV. You’ll be able to view everything in your Bylox account.

Check your items whilst overseas

This is often the most concerning part.

Verify your mobile number in your Bylox account before you fly. From anywhere you can log in using Google. Every week your stored items (bags, boxes and wallets) are photographed. You can view them anytime.

If your plans change whilst you’re away you can request to have one or all your items returned to an address in Hyderabad. We will only deliver to you or an authorised person.

Return

Once you’re back request your items and select a date. Book in advance and receive free delivery. Same-day or next-day returns will incur a fee.

We’ll call to confirm your time, address and final price. Once on the day we’ll check all your seals with you. We’ll confirm your OTP and ID and return your items.

Pricing

You’ll only pay for the bags, boxes or items you’re storing. We charge a monthly rate for long-term storage or a daily rate.

No security deposit is charged. Your booking will be applied to your bill. View our pricing page to see current pricing. Compare this to a few months' rent for an empty flat.
